i have had a love affair with Red Hook neighborhood in Brooklyn ever since my first visit several years ago (long before Ikea set up shop there!)....it must be that it is right on the water with beautiful views, a few quirky little shops, bars, and restaurants, artist studios, a community farm, remnants of its past seaport life, and the fact that it has not been exploited too much (other than the sugar factory being torn down and ikea being built so far) because no subways go directly there....
Jeff and i rode our bikes there yesterday, during gale force winds!, for an event at the community garden there (pumpkin picking patch, farmers market, and food stands from places like Rice and The Good Fork). We then biked over to the diner Hope and Anchor for more food and some beer and before heading home we stopped by the pier....
