the last few days...

i'm nearing the deadline of the travel/research grant i'm applying which is a good feeling, though it will better when it is done and submitted! what has been surprisingly great is getting back into the swing of things, so to speak, in terms of working hard on a project. since college (or really since the summer i spent studying architecture at harvard after college) i have not had to work as hard with as much dedication and focus, for i tend to only through myself in only when it is something it is something i believe in strongly and/or it is my own vision/project. so, needless to say, while working in the so called 'real' world for big companies where little of your own artistic vision is realized, let alone appreciated, and where half the time you work under people who are...less than inspiring, it is hard to have any motivation to put your all into something.
this grant i'm applying for has re-inspired me in terms of my own work as well as my future goals. so, whether or not i receive it, i'm grateful for the process i'm having to go through right now, regardless, or rather because, of it being so difficult and time consuming.
one thing i've noticed and am glad of is how my daily meditation practice has prevented me from getting "stressed out" like i used to!

anyways, i'm still fighting off the cold/virus/flu i have had for the past week and it seems unfair that it is lasting for over a week now! it has also gotten in the way of doing fun outdoorsy things during beautiful fall weather! i guess i should remember the Shamanistic view on being sick: a time to rest, reflect, go within and be with oneself so that later one is stronger later....(picture found: here)

I bought flowers at the farmers market on friday evening after work (i love how the big ones remind me of coral-i should find out what they are called-one downside is little black seeds drop from them all day) and before heading to the Tibet House for a Dharma talk by Orgyen Chowang Rinpoche

this weekend was mostly resting up and working hard...today Jeff and I took a break (Jeff has been working very hard on studying for classes for grad school...which also helps me work hard) and went to Prospect park where we spotted the changing colors of the fall leaves and threw around the frisbee
