Koyu Abe + sunflowers
Koyu Abe, chief monk at the Buddhist Joenji Temple, has distributed at least 8 million sunflowers to soak up toxins from the soil in Fukushima. “It is said that Sunflowers can remove 95% of the radiation in soil in 20 days.”

expanding your circle of compassion
a great talk by the scholar Robert Thurman on compassion and Buddhism... reminding us that when we think only of ourselves, become too consumed with our own suffering, we become more miserable and useless to others as well as to ourselves but when we have compassion and think of others more than we think of ourselves we are freed from suffering and bring lightness to the world around us...
